Robert Reilly

Senior Advisor for Information Strategy

Robert Reilly currently serves as a US Defense Department Senior Advisor for Information Strategy for Operation Iraqi Freedom. He also served as the Senior Advisor to the Iraqi Ministry of Information, which was abolished in May 2003. Mr. Reilly has had the responsibility of overseeing the start of a free press in Iraq, including a national TV and radio network and a national daily newspaper. Prior to his current position, Mr. Reilly was the Director of the Voice of America during 2001 and 2002. From 1990 through 2001 he was the Producer and Program Host of  "On the Line," a Voice of America weekly television and radio foreign policy talk show. During the mid 1980s, Mr. Reilly served at the US Embassy in Bern, Switzerland, as a Senior Advisor for Public Diplomacy. During the Reagan Administration, Mr. Reilly was responsible for foreign policy and national defense issues as a Special Assistant to the President in the Office of Public Liaison. He was the Director of the Office of Private Sector Programs at the US Information Agency in the early 1980s, where he administered the agency's discretionary grant program. Mr. Reilly holds degrees from Georgetown University and Claremont Graduate School. He also attended the National Chengchi University in Taiwan.
