Georgian-Russian Relations

Dr. Asbed Kotchikian

Dr. Asbed Kotchikian received his B.A. from American University of Beirut, and his M.A. and Ph.D. in political science from Boston University. He is currently teaching at Bentley College, in Waltham, Massachusetts. Previously, he was an adjunct assistant professor at Florida State University, where he taught courses in Eurasian and Middle Eastern politics and was Assistant Director of the International Affairs program. He has also taught at Hobart and William Smith Colleges, Riga Stradina University (Latvia), Boston University, and Wheaton College. His area of research includes the foreign policies of small states, the modern political history of the post-Soviet South Caucasus, with a focus on foreign policy and political development, and issues of national identity.

Dr. Kotchikian has spent considerable time in Armenia and Georgia conducting research and teaching at the local universities. He has published articles and book chapters in various media, among which are Demokratizatsya, Insight Turkey, and Central Asia and the Caucasus.
